Coach Ryle Government
Welcome to our Classroom. We are going to accomplish many things throughout this year. These are a few of the expectations I have for this year: (this list is subject to additions)
*Gain or enhance your appreciation for the effect that Historical and current events have on your life.
*Gain or enhance your appreciation for our form of government.
*Completely understand our Constitution so we will know when the Government is cheating us and or breaking the law.
*Gain or enhance your ability to communicate your thoughts - orally and in writing.
*Gain or enhance your acceptance of responsibility.
*Gain or enhance your ability to succeed in life.
*Have as much fun as we can
In our classroom we will have some Lifestyle Suggestions that we will need to adhere to. These are so we can fulfill the expectations found above. These will include:
* Everyday, bring Paper, pen, notebook (anything that has clips/braids and pockets to responsibly keep your notes and documents from here), Participate in all activities prescribed by your Information Officer (Coach Ryle or another old person at the front of the room) and complete them in the allotted time.
* Treat yourself and your classmates with respect at all times.* Be in the room by the time the bell rings unless you have communicated with me.
* Communicate any conflicts you have with the Information Officer (Coach Ryle or another old person at the front of the
room ), and accept responsibility for your actions.
* Leave baggage outside, bring a good attitude and your best
effort inside.
* No Food or Drink in the classroom - (water is okay – I do not want to bend over and pick up after yall – or clean up yall’s messes
* All activities are due the day after they are assigned (unless told otherwise)
And you will have one day to turn in late work. (Extenuating circumstances will be considered) Communication is the key – let me know what is going on and show me you care and want to keep up or get caught up.
* All PISD policies.
* We will be focused on the matter at hand, not on time – wasters. If we are not using your phones, you will not be on your phone. If there is something you need to do, or somebody you need to call, talk to me about it and we can come to an agreement. I will not disrespect you, you will not disrespect me. If you know you can’t handle it – I will provide a box for you to put it in. If you keep it out after a warning, I will be forced to take it up and send it to the office.
We will do 99% of our activities together in class. All work is due when we are finished with it unless we don’t turn it in. I understand how busy you are with activities and work, so I will respect that. You need to respect both yourself and me enough to get your responsibilities taken care of. Extenuating circumstances will be dealt with on an individual basis. LET ME KNOW IF SOMETHING IS GOING ON!
Students will be receiving a participation grade every week. On Monday every student will have a 100. If the student fails to Participate, does not pay attention, works on something else, etc., they will forfeit the 20 pts. For that day
(5 days X 20 pts = 100 ) . I will keep a record of infractions and consequences in a spiral notebook.
You are responsible for keeping all the things we do in class. You need to keep up with all notes, worksheets, and CTDG’s. Do not throw away your things until the end of the Semester.
We will have periodic Current Events quizzes. We will probably have them on Mondays. The reason for having this is to encourage you to pay attention to the things that are happening around you. This will give us a chance to discuss these events and better understand how these things affect your life.
Please help me keep this room livable. If yall could leave it like you found it (or maybe even better!) that would be greatly appreciated!!
My job is to help prepare you for life and to help you gain the tools to succeed. I am available to you whenever I am not coaching or teaching another class. My phone number is 210 - 2739 (it is little Christi’s phone) if you need anything. My email address is [email protected] if you would like to get in touch with me that way. I start my day @ 3:15 AM and we struggle to get a eight year old to bed every night - so please keep that in mind. I get home on Mon, Tues, and Wed. after 8:00 PM. Thursdays will be late with ballgames. I will tell you that I do not have a computer at home – and I do not always pay attention to the one at school – so if I do not respond quickly don’t be offended. I am not a computer person at all and they are not a part of my life – but I will try to use it if that is how you operate – just have patience with me. I am excited about this year and I’m glad you are a part of it.
